Default New Numpty needs advice on boost/vacuum gauges

Hi all & apologies for taking your time.

Newbie, with a 2003 WRX that has boost/vacuum gauges fitted but not connected up. I have all the electrics in & sorted.

1. Boost gauge: The wonders of Google seems to be be saying tap into the pipe coming off the BOV. Is this correct, before i go cutting a fuel line lol?

2. Vacuum: This is weird, 'cos a few sites are telling me to take it off the same place which I cant get my head around as this would mean a vacuum gauge is practically a boost gauge in reverse?

Thanks in advance for your help

Dave

using a T-piece connect into the BOV line, it is safe to remove this just dont cut anything, the engine creates vacuum when not in boost i.e pistons are drawing in the air as the turbo always flows but doesn't always boost

hope this helps,

cheers

Cheers Steve.

So, are you saying the vacuum gauge can connect at the same place (two T's)?

it connects to the same place via 1 pipe as when you let off the throttle the engine creates vacuum unless you have two gauges which i have miss read?

You should only need a boost gauge as they (well all the ones ive ever seen) rear positive and negative pressure. Vacuum gauges are for non turbo cars usually.

has the boost gauge got a vacuum reading on it? post a pic if possible, most boost gauges have this it would mean you only need to use one instead of two,

cheers

Expensive gear lol....
Boost

Vacuum

Also have a Oil pressure in a centre pod.

Other option is to ditch them (which seems a shame as they are 'part fitted', & the kids love them), or buy another more useful one to replace the vacuum?

if thats the same gauge as you have, if you look at the negative figures on the face this is vacuum which is an effect caused by the engine drawing in air, ditch the vacuum gauge and plum in the boost gauge to that pipe, i have oil pressure, boost and voltage gauges as i find them the most useful,

cheers
