Most fit over the existing and are held on with small screws.
I sourced & stored a A pillar trim before drillling into the original so that I can revert to standard and take the pod, gauge etc to my new car - worth bearing in mind if your ever thinking of swapping cars.
Before sourcing the replacement trim it was held with Velcro. It held ok but would come loose over time.
