Metallic Silver 99, may be common on all finishes.
The lower 5 inches of all 4 doors look like they have been painted with hammerite.
(wavy finish)
I only noticed this recently as I generally only clean the car with suds and water, last weekend I gave it a proper clean.

? Is this some form of protective stone chip finish on the lower doors, or was mine a friday afternoon job from the paint shop.
This is only on the doors it does not extend to the wings etc. ?

Regards Mark

My MY99 silver Scoob does'nt have this 'feature'. Did you pay extra for this 'stone chip protection'?

Mark,

Mine (MY99 Silver) is the same. I'd assumed it was some sort of protective finish. But then I'm probably wrong and been driving around for 6 months with dodgy paint work

Must remember to ask my dealer at 15k service.

This is on my 99my DBM also. I never noticed it until I started using Wax Wizard wax & applying it by hand. It is definately a stronger paint to protect from stone ships etc.

MY 99 ,left hand drive , living 3000 miles
from UK , silver metallic, same thing noticed
on lower portion of doors.

so it seems to me as a global feature on the
Impreza.

seems to withstand stone chipping better than
the rest of the car's finnish

any way we'll just have to live with it....

the Impreza is such a good car after all

Good luck to all
