Mk1 Leon Cupra Insurance

Mk1 Leon Cupra Insurance
With my first year of driving gone, and my insurance less than half the previous year at (1528) (now 705) for this next 12 month's on a 1.4 Leon. Im thinking about upgrading.
The little Leon is getting a little tired and high mileage and well a bit boring now.So thinking about looking into a Cupra, pre 2004 for cost reason's.Unmodified and any colour (Preferably not silver) but not to fussed.
Just wondering what people's experiences of them are, Petrol wise (wouldnt mind a TDI)
Any idea's what insurance might be around. If i can get insurance for around £1000 - 1300 max (details below), Id be willing to save up. Insurance on the scooby is nigh on impossible till im 22. Also with a 1.8t year's insurance might help lower the premium.
Thought's and suggestion's from insurer's,owner's etc
Here's some car's id be interested in:

I have a 55 plate Mk1 FR TDi for my daily driver. I do quite a lot of miles for work and it's great for what I need it for; comfortable, economical, and reasonably quick as well. Remap is on the cards soon.
I had another one a few years back, a 53 plate Cupra TDi, and my mate had an identical 1.8T. Once mine was mapped there was pretty much nothing in it performance-wise, plus mine was group 13 and his was group 16, and I got 50mpg...

I had a Leon Cupra 2001 think it was, completely standard and the mpg was pretty **** from memory - 20 around town?
But then again a 1.8 turbo isn't going to be good is it!
