Default Damn...current insurer will not cover Imprezas

Hi,

I made an initial enquiry earlier on today to see how much extra my current insurer would charge me for switching to a 2001 Impreza WRX to be told they dont cover imprezas

I am currently around 6 months into a policy and paid the amount in full when taking the policy out - i took the policy out on 7/7/11 so it will be 7 months old on 7/2/12, checking the T&Cs on my policy as soon as i cancel when the policy is 7 months old i will still have to pay 90% of the premium meaning i get a pittance back in return.

I am waiting for a call back tomorrow to tell me the exact amount though.

Initially in my head i thought (stupidly) i would get around 6 months of the total back - quick and nasty maths which i estimated to be a smidge over £300

I have submitted online quotes to Keith Michaels & A-Plan and need to ring the likes of Greenlight, Sky and Adrian Flux. Let hope one of these guys can quote me happy tomorrrow because if not my return to impreza ownership is in jeopardy

I will keep my fingers crossed and expect to have one red hot mobile tomorrow!

If your current insurers won't cover your new car (the Impreza) they should really offer to cancel on a pro-rata basis, minus an admin fee.

Pop your details over and i'll give you a call, as i don't always deal with the internet quotes.

How old are you?

Surely that is their mistake so they will have to let your insurance run out or refund you the remaining.

Thanks
Sam

My last insurer don't do Imprezas (AXA), but they refunded virtually all the cash I paid out 2 months ago.

I will wait and see what they say tomorrow when they call me back - hopefully they will be able to do it pro rata.

Moley - I will fire you a pm , I did put scoobynet on the Internet quote too.

Ok so i spoke to my insurers earlier who would refund circa £200 back to me if i was to cancel now which is better than i thought.

I have spoken to Greenlight who were looking at around £800 for the scoob (A-Plan struggled to touch this) which is alot of money to shell out in one lump sum especially as all along in my hunt for an impreza i expected to ring up my current insurers and pay a little extra on top (£200 max)

Hmm decisions decisions, i am waiting to speak to Keith Michaels and then take a decision, scooby ownership may have to wait until renewal time (July) when i have an extra year NCB and can shop around again when my insurance is due rather than this extra cost now and renewal in july.

Insurance are raping me. Was in same situation with my insurer refusing to take on an Impreza.

Insurance for a BMW M3 Evo was £901, then £667 for a 330ci M Sport but they were never having an Impreza.

Best quote Ive had so far for a Impreza Wrx is £967 and thats at 29 with 7 years no claims.

Must phone Kevin Michaels tommorow
