As the title says i'm looking at getting a 2003 impreza sti i've been getting quotes for around £873 not looking for insurance companys because i know they differ from person to person just want to know if this sounds like a fair price and also if it's ppp how much does it go up because i've not come across an online insurer that recognises it. Cheers folks.

It all depends on what the £873 is based on i.e. no of no claims bonus you have, area where you live, security on the car, "excess" payable on the quote. PPP is normally classed as a mod so will boost up the premium. Try "A" Plan or specialist Jap Car/Subaru specialist insurance brokers (can be found in the back of the mags) as well as try getting quotes on the internet as I found it can be cheaper!.

Think in all £873 sounds reasonable for a 27 year old given it's a 2003 STI with PPP. Any cheaper would be a bonus!

Whatever you do make sure it's fully comp and you get your bonus protected!

Yeah i've got a clean licence which i've had for 10 years and i've got 9 years no claims, £300 excess and i've got a pretty good postcode aswll i think, the qoutes i've used have been assuming it's got a cat 1 alarm on it but i've not been putting down it's got a tracker fitted, although most of the cars i've seen come with one fitted (are they standard fit?), probably none come with anual subscription paid though.

Right i don't believe this i've i just got a quote off admiral for £790 which i thought was good, i added my mum to the policy and it's now gone down to £610 which is bloody amazing, thats for an 03 uk STI, for an import which i didn't think i would be able to afford the insurance is £800 with my mum added and £1010 without her, my mum has got her uses after all.

I don't believe they all come with trackers. My WR1 did but I have to pay the annual premium to RAC. I've got 12 NCB and adding my sister on the policy drove down the premium approx. to £475 with an excess of £350, so the true cost would be £825 on the basis it was my fault in an accident otherwise £475 as the excess would be claimed back. The thing I like about Admiral on the internet is that you get a choice of putting in your cheapest quote you have obtained - thats where you could make a savings .

Perhaps you should go back and say you've got a cheaper quote say for £700 and see if they can beat this - you've got nothing to lose as you'd still have the £790 as a valid quote.

I'm not getting to excited about the quotes just yet, just seeing if i'm getting a fair deal, it's gonna be a couple of months minimum till i get a scooby, i'm currently waiting to get an offer on an insurance pay out from an accident on my motorbike which was over a year ago now, which at the looks of it could be finally sorted soon (fingers crossed). Then i've gotta sell my bike which i carn't do till the insurance is sorted.

£790 is a decent price taking your age into account.

Best of luck with everything

I've been paying around £800 for the last 3 years through A-PLan (although not very happy woith them atm) - MY97 Uk Turbo.

Got 1 storm damage claim on an old car (technically, it goes down as my fault) and SP30 from 2003. Also in a disputed claim (hence a-plan comment)

And what about getting a ban from driving or points on your licence? Worth the risk?

Did you also know that not having an M.O.T on your car is a non-endorsable offence so tou won't get points on your license, it might invalidate your insurance though
