Insurance Subaru Impreza insurance can be expensive, as with any performance car insurance. But the cheapest car insurance isn't always the best. Share your quotes, and experiences.

Hi,

My advise would be to buy something that has a lower insurance group, hence cheaper insurance. You are best building up a couple of years no claims and then look at a car you are really after. You could also try and save some of the money you would have to fork out for the impreza and use it to buy a WRX in a few years.

Just MHO

Dan,

I was the guy that gave you the link to here from novaload.

£2000 is about right I think. Have a look at www.Tesco.co.uk. They provided me with a good quote.

I really would recommend leaving it for a year before buying one as you will find it easier getting insured with 1 years NCB (about 30% cheaper).

I am also looking at buying a Scooby, but I was looking at the turbo but could not get insurance that I was willing to pay so I am now looking at the 2.0 Sport. The cheapest quote I have got so far is £1900 fully comp from Tesco. I am 20 with 1 Years NCB.

I have decided to leave it for a year so that when I come back next year the insurance will be cheeper as I will have 2 Years NCB (hopefully) , the insurance is where it will hit you the most.

Check out my post at http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=60604

I'm 24 with 2 years NCB on a Scooby 2.0 Sport (Modded to everything except a turbo - Speedline alloys, high spoiler, ScoobySport exhaust, turbo seats) - I was paying 1500 with Admiral last year.

This time round it looks like I'm going to get <1000 quid with Tesco's (Admiral is still 1500).

PS My insurance is going to be 30 quid cheaper with my girlfriend (21) on as a named driver!!!

Re the wife....have me on RB5WR insurance (car in wife's name) and her put on my Jeep insurance as husband and wife policies after our wedding and saved £160

I also have a junior here who has just passed his test aged 17 and a bit. He has been quoted £1700 to cover a 'K' plate 1.1 Fiesta on 3rd party fire and theft which cost him £1300 to buy

Insurance is a very funny science

dannova
just me 2 peneth worth
might sound harsh but do yourself a favour and wait.
i did, spent 8 years driving low (ish) insurance group motors, built up my NCD, decent wage, then got my scoob at 27, but!!... im still paying just short of a grand for a UK turbo with no mods!

unless your a premiership footballer, youre just not gonna afford it just yet (not saying your not of course)

wait a while, you'll reep the benefits, trust me ive been there

IMHO of course

Bought MY97 Impreza Turbo when I was 20 years old. Always wanted one and after the Cio Williams fancied a turbo.

Paid £2250.00 for my insurance which is a joke. I have to say I would follow the advice from the guys in here as I have been there and done that.

Get something cheap to insure and then next year get one....my quote this year 21 with 4 years NCB is £1247.00 with Tesco...obviously have to have a tracker.

Cheers Matt

I have MY00 Turbo with no mods except Gold wheels, Im 28, Full no claims ( although I had an accident a couple of years ago - luckily I protected the NCD) I pay £700 with Admiral although I am only insured for 2000 miles ( My choice), my Girlfriend and I work at the same place so we go in her car to work and I only use the Scooby at weekends)

Incidently with Direct Line my girlfriends insurance policy which is her first states that if she has no claims in this year she will get 4 years NCD free next year and can take this to other companies if there quote is not competative. It may be worth a thought to take the advise of the others, buy a cheaper car for one year grab the 4 yrs NCD and get your scooby. My girllfriends year is nearly up now and we are changing the 1.0 Corsa for a 106 GTi, not bad for a second car, I used to have one before my Scooby and they are great fun!!!!!

I am getting my 97 scooby in march and insurance has been as follows:

Tesco - £1750 with tracker
Direct Line - £1500
Adriain flux - £3300!!
Thames City - £2700
Other internet companies - £2200

I am 21 with 1 yrs no claims and an 8 months accelerator bonus which was a waste of time cause I cannot transfer it to another company which they didn't tell me at the time. All these quotes are not 100% accurate, give or take £100. Direct line quoted me £1400 before x-mas! I also have to consider if the companies will let me modify (exhaust, air filter, lowered, alloys) which I know direct line are not to bad for but as for the others they are not so sure
