Angry A-Plan Insurance - WARNING!

As a customer of A-Plan I feel compelled to whinge!
As recommended on Scooby Net I took out a policy with A-Plan. But the policy is underwritten by a little known company 'Markerstudy'. They are most definitely NOT geared up to deal with claims on high performance cars! Bad communication & bad management!
(My house was burgled & among other things my car keys were stolen. I rang to report the incident, wrongly presuming as it was theft I'd be fully covered - WRONG! They only cover £200 for replacement locks/keys & we all know how much the actual cost can be - in my case at least £840!! The car was also taken to a bog standard crash repair centre rather than a specialist unit for our type of cars & I have also had a nightmare with getting courtesy car from them.)

So BEWARE - if you have a policy with A-Plan check the fine print of your policy, and be very careful with your keys!!

Not had a problem directly with A-Plan (in fact they've been good), but I got a letter from them to say you also need to let them know if you don't have a full set of original keys as they want the full set back in the event of theft.

My import only came with one....

Quite what happens if someone steals/demands your keys from you I don't know - not covered for theft?

A mate of mine had his skyline insured with A-Plan, after he Wrote it off 2 months later it was sat on someone elses drive just up the road from his house, On speaking to the owner of the house discovered they had sold the car yet still not paid out for the claim my mate had made, bunch of monkeys.

Hi guys, thanks for your support, however I wasn't after pity only to warn you of Marker study's shortfall. In fairness A-plan have been good brokers, it's the under writters who are at fault.

I am anoyed that they didn't inform me of the low contribution of £200 when the bil is £838 for replacement locks/keys. I would have shopped around before deciding to go with there approved repair centre(who have taken me out of a courtesy car)
So now I am car less & broke.

I'm with A-plan, and its underwritten by Markerstudy.
Looks like I'll have to find someone else next year, thanks for the warning.

Some companies can now offer extra key cover, where if your keys are lost or stolen the company will replace the locks to all keys on your keyring
(house, car, shed etc)

It is sometimes as little as £10 (with very little or ne excess), so worth asking

If it's so little cost then why isn't it offered or included in fact!!

I have at last got the car back with 46 miles more on the clock, dirty.......RRRRRRR!!!!!

I had to pay my £350 excess and then the contributed only £200 towards the £838 bill.

I am going to give insurance companys a lot of hassle next time around and for the rest of my days of Impreza ownership.

Very unhappy CUSTOMER ( yes some insurers forget that I'm the Customer.)

Wifey dented bumper+ and they arranged for a coachworks to do the work, there was no quibble, no delay and an excellent choice of garage. All sorted and is as good as new.

Shame you had a bad time, but that kinda thing should surely be in the small print, listing repair values etc.

A Plan and Marker study sorted me out no problem when someone drove into me and then decided to drive away. I can only recommend them. Got my excess back too after a small delay! Well Happy! Nice one A Plan!

My insurance is with A plan but it is underwritten by Groupama, and what a shower of poo they are. My car was vandalised last year and it took weeks to sort out, first they were going to repair it, then write it off then cancelled my insurance after they changed their minds not to write it off. It took weeks to sort out.

But in fairness A plan were brilliant, always rang me back, kept me up to date, chased Groupama for me and did their best. I have renewed with A plan on the strength of their customer service and finding me a great deal again.
