Question Where to get insured (29yrs)? Got some Stupid Quotes!!

man is it hard getting a decent Quote, I have been quoted renewal from A-Plan for my 51 plate WRX 265bhp Chipped with prodrive pipe (mods declared) for £780 (29 yrs old 6 yrs no claims no points etc) not bad considering I got a quote from Subaru insured for £2900!!! thats right doh!

So anyone know where I can get a better qoute or whot try.... Green light wouldnt even quote me??? tried:
A-Qoute, More than (and they were!), Direct line, natwest, Esure, Virgin, Tesco, Asda.....blah blah all the usual ones.....

Any others apart from A-plan I can tey please please please or should I settle for £780

Scooby is just in for a service, fingers crossed this could be an expensive month already

cheers everyone, Rick

I wonder why they couldn't offer that £720 in the first place

Seems poor underwriting to wait for you to get as many quotes as possible, then then just beat the best one by a few £££.

Wouldn't waste my money on the phone call to them. Was insured with them a while ago, not the impreza.

Fair enough I wasn't paying a fortune with all mods declared, but, they are IMHO, an utter f.ucking joke if you need to make a claim.

Unsure if they are any different now, but I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

I've been insured with them since I was 19. I've insured Mk1 GTI, Mk2 GTI 16v, Polo GpN rally car, Escort Cossie and various Corrados and MK2 GTIs but as I've never had a claim through them I don't know what they're like for paying out. My brother's beetle was hit up the **** by an artic and they seemed very efficient dealing with him but like I say I've had no personal experience of a claim through them.

I must admit as they've grown I've noticed that the sales team have gone from being car enthusiasts who'd be happy to talk for hours about mods etc to your average call-centre drones who haven't a clue about what you're telling them. Still, damn good price so I'm not complaining.

Hi Demon,

You mention that you're covered by Zenith, which is why I felt it worth responding.

Having dealt with Zenith for 11 years at Greenlight and also prior to this, although Zenith do appear upon open market rating/operating systems - within the terms & conditions notes of their quotations it clearly states they do not cover non-EU origin imports. Which presumably a 93 import would be.

It may have been agreed on a bespoke basis by Zenith, but in our experience this never happens and Zenith take the "exactly what it says on the tin" wholly electronic approach to doing business.

Assuming Moley also has access to Zenith, perhaps Moley can shed some light before you contact Zenith to check.

Kind regards

Tony

If i quote myself as a 30 year old (in a good postcode, 9 yrs NCB) for my 1993 WRX i wouldn't get much change from £1000 with them.

Fully agree with ya Moley....... like most insurance companys they seem to compete with each other until you seem happy with a price and accept it. I suppose some people would have seen the original quote of £850 and gone 'fair enough what I expected'. Its all profit margins...... I recently changed my house insurance and saved 20 quid a month building and contents by making 3 calls...... until you moan they just keep taking ya money!

It is just very frustrating when companies such as Keith Michaels and Greenlight put a lot of work into getting a good price just for another company (no names mentioned of course) who obviously don't know themselves what price they should be offering to just make up their own price, as they (at the moment) have a good scheme with a particular underwriter.

Happened with Liverpool Victoria recently, and will happen again.

In the mean time Keith Michaels and Greenlight wil continue to offer realistic prices, and will still be here to quote in years to come.
