My insurance is up for renewal on October 13th and I have just been quoted £1067 by my current insurance Company (Bell Direct).

So far I have tried Norwich union (£1216) and Hyperformance Insurance (£1031).

I am 27, have 6 years No Claims bonus, no Accidents, claims or convictions (ever!!) and the car is parked on a drive at night. The car is a completely standard MY00 Impreza Turbo and I live in Surrey not Liverpool!!

Anyone got any idea for a company that might insure me for a reasonable amount (£700-£800)??

Try Greenlight Insurance 01277 263030 (Brentwood, Essex). Mine is £780 (350 excess) prot no claims, 28yr old 3pts (2000 UK spec car on driveway in Essex). Next cheapest was screentrade.co.uk and Priveledge.
Greenlight also do track day extensions and mods

Joey

Oi i'm not that old!!

Biggest problem is you are under 30.

You will have to take a big excess (probably at least £400).

Rates are currently going up.

Keep searching!

Try AXA.Various brokers should quote for them.I went through Kwick Fit although at first they were very high they then put me through to a speciel dept that deals with higher risks.
I'm 26 live not a million miles from liverpool, have a stainlees B/Box,6 points and full protected no claims.
Cost £770 can't remember the excess but its similar to the other quotes you've had,as was said before its down to your age.

Joey,

Not looking too good then?

The only other that seems to stick in my mind when I was trying, was NFU Mutual on 01604 883726. At the time everyone recommended that I try them.
They were no good for me as I'm less than 25 and didn't want to even talk to me.
Maybe worth a try.

Cheers

OK nobody could better A-Plan with £837 so I will be taking out my policy with them.

Thank you for all your help and advice and I want to also thank Tom from Schofield Insurance as although he couldn't find a policy for me he was still more than willing to help and seems an all round "bloody nice bloke"

If you are under 30 don't bother calling NFU Mutual as they are not interested unless you are over 30.

I would just like to say cheers AndyMc for the A-plan number (AXA) beat my lowest quote by £200 to insure my WRX 240bhp import (I know this is the UK section) for £895 + £500 excess. this is GOOD for a 28yrs old living in Basildon, 6yrs protected & 1 sp30. who wants a UK slow-mobile when AXA are being sensible about Imports?

Joey,

I've found Barclays to be by far the best in terms of quotes. They are underwritten by Privelege (regarded as one of the best in terms of Scoobies) and offer a flat XS of £100.
I'm a little younger than yourself (23) so I would have thought you would be looking at a premium of about £750 - £800, with the £100 XS.

Phone num. is 0870 600 1414

Hope this helps

Just tried a few more this morning and here are the results :

Priviledge : £919.80 with a 350XS or 855.75 with a 500XS

Barclays : Over a grand, I can't remember properly as my brain switches off when the first words are "one thousand...."

Catterall : Were all busy and said they would call back (Haven't as yet if they don't call back then I am not chasing them)

A Plan : £837 with a £350XS through AXA. If I don't get a better offer before 12 I am going to take this

Cheers for all your help!

Cheers Joey,

Out of interest did that company give you a call?? If so what did they quote?

Thanks for your comments - as I said, I'm always happy to try and assist - even if I can't write the business myself.

Tom,

Taylor Price did call but they could only quote me £1492. Even the guy I spoke to there thought I should go with the £837 quote from A-Plan.

Just called Bell Direct to tell them not to renew my policy so they tried to better their renewal quote. Seems taking my mum off as a named driver INCREASED the price so how come they charged me £25 a few months ago to add her??

Performance car specialists: 0870 845 8888 ask for John Roberts.
