Default Tesco Insurance....Please Read!

Friday i spent a whole morning phoning insurance companies, heard the same story over and over........you have to be 25 or over to qualify for cover or............yes we can insure you.......for £2000!!

I am 24 with 5 years NCB
After insurance on a 52 plate WRX.

Tesco is the only one who will insure me for a decent price.........The outcome:-

Tesco Website Quote:-

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
5 years NCB
Protected NCB
No courtesy car
£250 voluntary excess
Siemans Tracker
Total price £885.

I then phoned Tesco to see if it would differ.

I just said to the guy on the phone, 'tried using your website to do my car insurance but your site cannot find my car reg. If i take out my policy with you on the phone, will i still get the 10% online discount, he said yes.

I told him exact same info as above, car spec etc.
Same Tracker
LESS EXCESS
I NOW HAVE A COURTESY CAR
Total Price £800 Fully Comp ( and im 24 )!!!.

Dont buy online, do the same as i did, you will get it cheaper!

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Marc.

Heard of similar instances of this happening. Did you try privilege their quotes beat the one I had tesco, though I am a bit older than you

Question

How come you all get it so cheap, i've been with tesco's for 5 years on my 93WRX (unmodified)

28 years old
tracker and cat 1 immobiliser/alarm
On a driveway, village location in leicestershire.
8000 miles a year no business use
8 years NCB
No accidents
No points or convictions

Over the 5 years its gone from £1000 down to £750
I've tried all other insurance companies whenever its up for renewal but none can match it so i've stayed with tesco.
I called them on my last renewal as it only dropped by £30 and they told me that was as cheap as it would go until i reach 50!!!!!!
The only reason for the £30 discount was because i stayed with them.

Am i getting seen off?

Cheers Matt

£300 excess
1 non fault accident in the last 12 months.
Tracker
20000 miles per year
No Points

Your postcode means so much.

Posted my quote up too. £620 tracker needed (RAC Trackstar) but i have 6 points, car kept outside and a recent claim so couldn't fault them really. I know the cover will be taken away super fast if the worse should happen though but at least it is legal.

Sorry to bust your bubble guys but Tesco are **** they may be saving you money now but think long term if the worst were to happen.
I know from first hand experience they do nothing to help and take an age to do anything let them do what they do best sell food.
They may of changed in the 12 months I've not been with them but they don't look after loyal customers.
But i will say it good to hear you all have good quotes.
Safe driving.

Mines a 1993 import with a tracker and cat 1 immobiliser and alarm.
I tried confused.com and got quotes down to £460.
I'm going to try that again nearer the time but in my experiance when i try to take up those price comparison quotes they won't insure me for various reasons.

I would always phone and get a quote. At least then you are actually dealing with a real person, not a some piece of software that will have limitations.

I am 24 btw and struggled to get insurance because I'm under 25. Had to go to the underwriters of my insurance and ask them to come up with a figure. They were willing to do so as I had been such a good customer in the past, always had large policies that were paid in full each time. Let's just say the result was 'interesting'

Tesco wouldnt insure me without a tracker, and they insisted that until I send proof of tracker they would not insure me against theft, a very hairy 48hrs later I phoned them and they comfirmed they had received my proof of tracker.

52 WRX Wagon

35Yrs old

Tracker

£150 excess

10 year NCB (not protected)

No curt car

£639

Hence why Im off to direct line come 1st March £488 fully comp, protected no claims, curt car, £150 excess.

I am literally on here to look for another insurance company. I am currently with Tescos and went with them because of their 'cheapest' quote. But i have to agree with the guy who said they were **** - they are total crap. Just before xmas i got hit by a skip lorry up a country lane who flew over a blind hill in the road, luckily i wasnt going very quick at all and managed to pull into the side of the lane but as he was going so fast he failed to stop in time and screwed up my wing, back door and bumper, have been told today the best they can do is 50/50!!!! how the f**k was it 50/50? i wasnt the one speeding, i wasnt the one driving a vehicle up a lane it shouldnt of been up and i wasnt the one who hit the other vehicle, how in the hell is that 50/50?

9 years of no claims and they want me to take a 50/50 liabilty - my ****. Id rather get it fixed over a period of time and am now changing insurance companies.

Damn you Tesco....DAAAAAAAMN YOOOOOOU!!!!
