Just renewed my insurance with Liverpool Victoria. Called the Union number and to get a discounted rate. All went fine they were happy to insure my car for £480 fully comp and claims protected. Then I told them it was modified no problem sir ! Until I was asked if the mods improved my performance ! Yes I said and listed the mods, he said he would call back after checking with the underwriters. 10 mins later he called back saying we cant insure you because of the added performance of the car!!!!!!!

I called back a few days later and spoke to a nice lass called Helen. Told her that I have had a quote but was told they wouldn’t insure me because of my performance enhancing mods. Informed her that I had read stories on SN that they would insure as long as the cubes were not increased. To my delight she said that was correct and Insured me there on the spot. All the mods required receipts or photos of proof if a claim was to be made. I asked why I was denied insurance a few days earlier but couldn’t give me and answer. I also asked her to include on the policy that ‘my car was modded and that I required receipts or photos of proof if a claim was to be made'. Just encase I claimed and it went to the wrong person.


Moral of the story

There seems to be some communication problem in Liv Vic so if you get turned away call them back as I did and ask the question about mods to someone else.

They were good for me too - Got my renewal from Direct Line and they wanted just shy of a grand. Went to LivVic and £740...Saving £30 a month - happy days!!

Well done that man, i got roughly the same quote £502 f/c
told same story if i played with the engine and increased the horses then my premiun would be loaded.

Had to make a claim last month, they came, they saw the
