1.8GL??? Its a MY94 WRX!!
#1
Both Tesco and Liv Vic had my car showing as a 1.8GL when they entered my reg details. Its definitely a WRX. Has anyone any ideas why this could be?
I had (in the past) heard something about Jap spec cars coming into the country registered as 1.8GL models, but were turbos. Is this true? Could mine be one of those? How can it work - surely the insurance would be null and void in the event of a claim?

Yup - most imports are down as 1.8gl, as long as you make an additional not on the proposal form saying that it was misregistered you will be fine.
I take it that yours is an import ?

You NEED to check it with them asap as in the event of a claim I am sure that they would void cover due to the vehicle being incorrect.
What does it show on your policy schedule? Ring them and ask what they have it listed as...if they state GL you need to make sure they amend it...and alas, my guess is that they will try and charge you...

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the advice. As stated in my previous post the policy schedule does reflect the details I have given them, so no worries on that front. It just seems a little strange that the import cars come up as 1.8GLs when they have been in the country for several years now.

This is mentioned in www,sidc.co.uk/faq - thought it was a Subaru myth. according to the faq its a WRX RS - 1 of 3 imported by Subaru. And if Subaru imported it, then presumably they can't refuse to service it...

Tomcat,
That's interesting. I knew I had heard something strange about this topic, but could not remember where. I will re-read the FAQ. My car wasn't imorted by Subaru though and I will be sticking with TSL.
Cheers,
Kev
PS. I thought the USA got RS models (2.5 litre).
