Does anyone used Elephant.co.uk to insure their car?
I have heard that they are 100% internet based, ie no telephone. What are they like, and who are their approved insurers?
Just got a quote for 2001 WRX no mods for £1,156.53 1 years no claims, 30 yr old female. Is this good?
Thanks

I have both our cars insured with them and have found them very good value. No experience of making a claim. They have now started to give out national rate phone numbers (used to be premium rate), but these are well-hidden!
I think initially their service was a bit slow as they'd only deal via email and would take ages to respond, but it seems to be better now.

We have 2 cars insured with Elephant.
They can be a little slow to respond to emails but you can phone a national rate number (may have to hold for 10mins though!)
They dealt with a claim a while back for theft and it was settled within about 4 weeks.
Way cheaper than anyone else, so as far as I'm concerned they are the nuts.

Elephant is part of the Admiral/Bell Direct/Diamond etc etc group so they have plenty backing, and are certainly not inexperienced in dealing with insurance issues.
The reason they started as Internet based was to cut costs and overheards, hence reducing premiums.
I have claimed through Elephant and found no problems whatsoever.
In fact, currently our 2 cars (STI 8 and Clio Cup) are insured with Bell Direct and Diamond!
I just got a quote yesterday from Diamond for a 22B......
£890 for me and the wife (ages 27 and 28)
Not bad eh?

Elephant have quoted me around a thousand for a modified import (Im 27 full NCB), they have no problems with the mods and i have found them easy to get through to on the phone.
They would insure me for £759 on a 22b...........If only i could afford the car!!

Interesting...
When I rang them, they said they would cover "up to 2 mods but it depends what they are". They also said that modifying an already powerful car was pretty well frowned upon.
I also beliwve that you used to have to pay up front but they apparently let you pay by installments (+8% interest).

Sulli,
You must have entered the post code of the crime capital of the mid-west! lol
After all, you are....
a) old
b) lots of bonus
c) garaged
d) lowish risk Scoob (6 year old UK wagon)
Either that or you've hit the wrong keys! lol
Surely 2 SP30's shouldn't hike it to that price?????

Right, I've just had 2 sample quotes from Elephant.....
Both are for 31 year old single male with ML1 postcode, insuring a MY98 UK Turbo worth £7000. 8 years no claims, SDP, 10,000 miles per year.
Quote 1 - No points on licence - £792
Quote 2 - 2 x SP30's on licence - £912
Hardly £3000 is it?
Still well reasonable, even for a liability with 2 x SP30's!!!

im insured with them as they gave Cheapest quote for MY96 uk turbo wagon, standard, just over £900 for me and two named drivers, im 28yrs old, female, 4yrs NCB. They seem to be helpfull enough and documents came through quickly. Not had to claim ( hope I never have to) so can't say how they deal with that situation.

Just got a quote on elephant. 35 years old, 6 years no claims with protection, no points. On a 2002 WRX STi prodrive. On driveway - £682. In a garage - £682. Very pleased with that seeing as I paid over £1000 last year with a different insurer.
