Best insurance firm for modified Impreza?
#1
Any suggestions on firms to consider? I'm currently with Greenlight and my renewal's due shortly. The car's got quite a few mods, so some firms won't even consider it. Who's accomodating to the 300+ bhp cars?

Liverpool Victoria IMO
We cannot insure:
Cars which have not been manufactured for the UK market e.g. Japanese imports.
Cars which have performance enhancing modifications.

Adrian Flux wanted about £1200 and LV wanted about £1400. Interesting though: LV didn't need details of the modifications. The only thing they're concerned about whether or not I had increased the cylinder capacity of the engine.

A Plan Insurance
Hyperformance
Have not got numbers handy
When you have over 350bhp it gets a bit more tricky!!!
Only LV gave me a decent quote for any over 30, no claims accidents, whatever

Just cancelled my insurance with NU, was paying £91 per month, now insured with L + V for £46 per month.
Asked themm about modifications, and was told that as long as the cc of the car isn't altered it's fine, just take piccies and keep the receipts.
cheers

Yup, I reckon it's going to be Liverpool Victoria. Adrian Flux were looking really good until they kinda blew their foot off. Get this... Right, last year my car got rear-ended. I was stationary at traffic lights. I heard a 'screech' and than BANG: some sh!tbox has gone into the back of the Scoob. Whilst I'm calling five-O he scarpers. The car's unregistered and we've no idea who he is. Result? A claim on my insurance. Since I have a claim (above), Adrian Flux doubled their quoted premium. Huh?
There's a message here. The insurance industry REALLY doesn't want our money. At what point does it make financial sense to actually drive w/o insurance? Sigh... Why, oh why?
So, LV it is...

Well, really impressed with Liverpool Victoria.!
Last time I tried them, 3 years ago, they wouldn't take on more import Impreza's ( unless already had other policies etc. with them ) so had to look elsewhere.
The price was a bit more than current policy ( +£100 ), but as now putting mods on the car, and adding the wife to the policy, expected that to rise if they would even insure a modded Scooby!
L&V - not interested in mileage, where parked, any mods - not even Scooby ECU / turbo / exhaust / headers or wheels etc. nor alarm/immobiliser/tracker... as long as engine size stays same.!
Also, automatically included protected bonus, legal cover, other car driving with permission of owner, hire car for theft or accident no matter whose fault, all of which were extras at previous company!
So, £918, £400 xs, but carte blanche to mod away, do as many mods as I wish and no need to declare them!
Peace of mind.... worth every penny!

just spoke to l and v at length, they said as long as you dont change the engine you can do what you want, just take pics and save receipts. But even though i am 32, i have 0 no claims, not due to accidents, cos i have lived o/s. Still gonna be 1400 pounds with 400 excess for my01 wrx, but seeing as its 1200 with tescos, then once i add the ppp then its probably gonna be well over that, getting a bit silly now, i could buy another car for the cost of my insurance!

on another note, thought i would have fun with tescos, just called them an explained what a ppp is, so its another 290 quid ontop of the 1200 i pay already!! then get this, to change my wheels is 300 pounds per ****ing year! what is that about? pretty scandalous for sure
