Hi Guys,

I search of a decent quote on a Turbo 2000 and its varies from one extreme to another. Tesco want £1210 (require a tracker) while others want 3K plus!! Anyone else on here similar age and NCB? If so please let me know who you are with....

Thanks,

Tony

Priviliege!!! I phoned them last night for a quote and they said they couldn't insure me on a scoob until I was 25! I suppose times have changed since then :-( Tesco's is sounding tempting but I'm not sure about the hassel of installing a tracker...

Tesco is the best. Maybe try Direct Line or Adrian Flux. I think Adrian Flux might not need a tracker but it depends what car you have been driving now.

I'm 25 with only 2 years NCB and have insurance on a £12k MY99 std UK Turbo for £900 FC from Greenlight. I've also got 3 points, 1 accident, cat 1 alarm and Immob, NO tracker, and NOT garaged.

Try em - phone number is 01277 263030

Tony,

If you can manage anything under £1500 at your age, your doing well and i'll hurl with envy. I'm 28 and still forking out £1400. I keep saying things like "oh, it will be better when i'm 25" or "it will be better when i'm 30" The b******s keep changing the goal posts and i cant grow old enough quick enough!!

Mine is up for renewal - Tesco want £1700 for my Import MY96 WRX - this is a good £200 more than they wanted before I got the car with 3 years no claims - got the car 4 days after my 21st ...now 4yrs no claims still 21...grrr

In fact, Tesco are the only buggers that will actually give me a quote....

sparkster - I know what you mean... I'm stil 24 though, so I'm not even through the 25 yr old barrier...

Still, £850 on a UK turbo isn't bad for 4 yrs NCB...

Question

Good on ya DNB. Thats what i would call a realistic price for insurance.

I understand how insurance companies work as i used to be a Financial Advisor and i understand the risk that they have to take insuring these cars hence the reason for the high insurance premiums but what i hate is how your insurance is calculated on general circumstances.

For example, my postcode doesnt say that i live on a farm in the middle of knowhere in a place where you could leave your backdoor unlocked for months on end if you wanted to(i dont) and nobody would have any idea!!!

Ive been law abiding all my life but these premiums are taking me to the edge!

Its a vicious circle. The more people that break the law the higher the premium. The higher the premium, the more people will break the law.

Whats the answer??

I had a version 6 WRX insured for 280bhp plus 10% increase. When I was 23 I paid £1700 with Privilege, just tried to insure a P1 and they won't quote until I'm 25.

It's a bit of a joke considering the WRX was an import with ally panels and same engine virtually, plus I was a year younger (now 24).

It's all about the class they put the vehicle in, and it strikes me the daft buggers even put an STI type R in a lower bracket than a P1! Muppets.

I can happily say that Tesco on line have quoted me £1400 for a P1. Excellent.

You want to watch the Tracker and Tesco thing. They are BU**ERS for not knowing what they are talking about. You ring one person and they say you dont need a Tracker, ring another and you do need a Tracker. Its a case of the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing. We were told we didn't need a Tracker and 2 months down the line a letter dropped through the door asking us where our certificate was for the Tracker system and also telling us that unless we provided evidence we were not covered!!!!! Make sure you check!
