Just spent a while on the phone with Adrian Flux...
They quoted me around £1100 including a declaration for a SS exhaust on a '94 2.0 Turbo.

I've had better quotes from the AA/Directline, and Adrian Flux claim to be a performance car/modified car specialist!

Disgruntled,

Twobeers

I also failed to mention that they said they wouldn't insure me as I didn't have enough experience with the vehicle... a 30 year old who hasn't had a claim for 6 years and has held a licence for 11 years and driven 12 different cars....

And btw, why was my previous post edited for libellous content? I didn't say anything libellous...

twobeers thats BARMY!!!!!!!! £1100???

Im the same age as you, and I have a 96 turbo. I pay £550 fully comp with protected NCB (Ive got 6 years or so) and legal protection etc etc with Norwich Union Direct. I didnt even CONSIDER trying a specialist broker, and if thats what I can expect then I wont bother them.

Hope you get some sense out of someone soon

Raze...
Yeah, it's insane. I've decided that I may as well stay with the AA. The only cheaper quote I've had is from Quoteline Direct and that was £1027.00 - but the excess was £600, £250 more than I'm currently liable for.

The fight goes on... thanks for the comments guys,

Twobeers

Try Tesco online or Directline. The latter seem okay about mods but they both require a tracking device (and won't accept the cheapest Tracker). Their customer service is spot on, although I've not needed to make a claim and that's the crunch.

Avoid Norwich Union Direct like the plague. They're shambolic and treat you like the fault party when you're not.

Ok, just to muddy the waters further...

I contacted Adrian Flux by phone because originally I had heard nothing back from submitting the online form from their website. However, this morning I received an email that supplied a quote of £900. So i called them again...

After supplying all the details (for a third time), I was quoted £1081.00. I asked them why I was quoted £900 for exactly the same spec and they replied that the online form didn't have a field asking for 'Previously Owned Car'. They therefore 'assume' that you have been driving the same type of car before. But because I had been driving a 306 XSi, they stuck £180 on top... In all fairness, that's just a cheek, a means to grab a little more cash.

I also expressed my disgust at previously being told quite abruptly that they wouldn't insure me. Thankfully an apology was received and they were more helpful this time.

Just thought you might want to know how it all turned out...

Regards
