Declare a bodykit or not?
#1
I'm asking for a friend, she has a VTR and is having a full kit fitted.
I've already said it might be advisable to tell the insurance as they could kick up a fuss if crashed, but she doesn't want the premium going up too much as she's only young....
Thanks
Mike.

She has any sense she will listen to your advise.
If not, and she does have an insurance claim, either by her self or against her, the insurance company will probulary just walk away
Not worth the risk imho
cheers simon

The insurers will be able to tell at a glance that it's an aftermarket kit and won't pay out. It's alright thinking"I'll remove it if I have a smash",but if you injure someone and you're not insured.........

If she doesn't tell the insurance company and then has an accident they will probably refuse to pay out and may even void the policy. If the policy is void, then that's driving without insurance and it could get very messy from there.
Definately declare anything non standard. I've heard that some insurance companys even like to know about factory fitted options which aren't standard such as bodykits and alloys!
