Default Hawkeye front speaker depth

Hi All

Read numerous threads about the size of speakers i can put in the front of my Hawkeye but my speaker choice i think will be tight depth wise.

I am wanting to fit Focal P165 V30's that are 71.8mm deep and can make my own mounts if i have to.

So i suppose there are two questions:

1) Has anyone installed Focal Performance P165 V30's in a Hawk/Blob/Bug?
2) Does anyone have the clearances ie doorcard to mount point / mount point to window?

I have seen mention of dremmeling down the inside of the door card to liberate a few more Mills.

Any info would be great before i make a purchase and learn the hard way. . Will be using dynamat and coupling those speakers ideally to a pioneer avhx1500dvd if anyone has any views.

Cheers

I fitted some Hertz speakers in my Hawk about 18 months ago and was able to fit 6 1/4 inch ers with the aid of some Corsa III adapters. There was plenty of clearance from the window and no issues getting the door cars on.
Sorry cant remember the depths as it was a while ago. I hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks for the response. Yeah am pretty much only interested in depths or if some has managed to fit these particular speakers or at least ones that are as deep.

Cheers

Yeah I thought it would be of limited help. I will see if I still have the boxes in the shed at the weekend. I usually keep them and see if they give the dimensions of the ones I fitted as that might help you.

Top performance that would be great fella.

So have done some digging and found this thread:-

https://www.scoobynet.com/ice-2/7823...door-card.html

vince-sti02 says he has Focal 165VB's and to trim inside card use extended pins and change screws for window to have them fit!

Then found http://www.caraudioxtreme.gr/focalpolyglass.html
Which shows:

His speakers
165VB
6.5" component speaker set
Maximum power 140W
Nominal power 70W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 93dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 60Hz - 28kHz
Nom. impedance 4 ohms
Tweeter TA241 inverted dome
Mounting depth 65mm

My speakers
165V30
6.5" component speaker set - Limited Edition
Maximum power 160W
Nominal power 80W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 92dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 55Hz - 25kHz
Nom. impedance 4 ohms
Tweeter TNB inverted dome
Mounting depth 77mm

In new money that is over 1cm of difference! I think my choice is a complete non starter and that i need to look nearer 6cm mounting depth.

Found some decent info. Between 53cm and 69cm seems to be the sweet spot.

If anyone else needs it for future reference. http://users.sisna.com/ignatius/subaru/mods/index.html

Still not sure how much space there is to the door card. I'll just have to pop my card off and work it out for myself before buying the speakers it would seem.
