Default Remote line HELP! (for sub) Newage scooby

Hey guys!

Once again I need your help, I have installed a nice double din headunit and ran my power and RCA leads and the last thing I need to do is hook up the remote line for the subwoofer/amp (power on with igition)

I was expecting the ISO adapter to a have a redundant blue wire that I could simply crimp to my amps remote wire.

Now I am not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure I have found the remote wire coming out of the back of the head unit, it is blue with a white stripe on it.

It then plugs into the ISO adapter where it turns into a plain blue wire with no white stripe, then when I follow it to the other end of the ISO lead it comes out as a pure white wire which then travels down out of my sight with the rest of the cars wires.

So my question is what does the impreza use that remote line for (assuming I am looking at the remote line)

Can I simply cut the wire (on the ISO adapter) and deny the car of it, or do I need to go out and buy some sort of piggy back connector.

Cheers, David.[IMG][/IMG]

Put a meter on it and double check that its giving you 12v when the HU is switched on .

If you are satisfied it is the remote piggy off it just to be safe

Hello mate.

Get a multimeter to double check. I have a feeling it's going to your car's amplified/motorised aerial.

What I would do is tee off the blue wire between the hu and ISP block. For more reliable remote feed, I would fit a relay also.

The other thing that confused me, for the two RCA phonos that come from the amp I could plug them into front output left and right or rear output, there is also one single slot in the headunit that says sub out, a friend said to plug either one of the two (L or R) into that single output and just leave the other one unplugged, he said a sub isnt in stereo so it won't matter.

Is that right? It seems strange to me that there's two leads L and R if only one is required.

Thanks again.

Only one is required for the Sub , there isn't L + R on the Sub output right ?

But for your full range output you need to have both L + R connected

If you mean you only have one Sub out on your HU but two inputs on your Sub amp you could use a Y splitter to sum the single output into two channels for the amp input

But depending on the Amp model sometimes its enough just to connect the Sub output to the L channel input on the amp

I would try both methods and see if you can notice a discernible difference

As said use a "y" splitter, one with 1 female and 2male connectors, put the splitter to the amp and plug the one RCA in that you have plugged in to HU.

As for the blue and white wire in the ISO harness that came with the radio is there not a solid blue one also? Some have both some have just blue with white trace, if you have both the blue with white trace is power antenna and the solid is switched live out for amps etc, both serve same purpose which give a switched feed when ignition is switched. In my blob I cut the blue wire from the ISO plug from the radio and connected it to my remote lead I ran to the sub.

The sub is connected and working, I'm not sure its 100% I need to play with some settings and perhaps get a y splitter as suggested. Thanks guys.
