Default DOOR SPEAKERS!?!

Hi all,

Before I start I have tried to use the search function but getting very mixed results!

Im about to get some speakers to fit to the front and rear of my impreza and a Headunit...Standard speakers are shocking!

I have a Blobeye 2004 (on a 53) WRX UK model...

What are the speaker sizes for front and back?? Front what I can gather its 5.25 for fronts and 4" for the rear?

I have done my research I know I would need spacers for the front and just straight swop at back...

Problem is different threads say front are 6.5 and back are 5.25?? Which ones are the straight foward swaps?

you will need spacers to get a decent sound.
the fronts are very shallow and will hit the window when its down.

also dynamatting the doors is a good thing to do to improve sound.

the spacers allow bigger speakers.

What size speakers are straight swaps (obviously with a spacer to avoid hitting the front window)

its not just the size thats an issue its the depth, the standards are very shallow.
if you get replacements that are the same diameter they may be deeper and hit the window when its wound down hence why people use spacers.

if you change like for like size wise they will still sound crap.

Hey mate.

I used a pair of simple mdf speaker rings from eBay. They are £6 delivered. I installed a set of fli components. I also have a pair of fli coaxial a going into the back of my wagon tomorrow, again on mdf rings if they turn up.

I suggest ou speak to Colin at Car Audio Direct he is a fantastic guy and I get everything from him. Customer service is fantastic, and usually if your car is a changeover year or there are 2 parts listed for our car, he will send you two with he option to return the unwanted item etc.

Back on topic, I bought some sound deadening material from him yesterday for £20 which is enough for 2 doors if you do inner and outer skin, or 4 doors if you only do the surfaces where the speakers are mounted.

I will be installing over tomorrow and Sunday so I will take some pics.

Here you go.
Hope this helps

For he rear I tried to install my 100mm speakers directly to the oem mount as I did not have the spacers delivered. There is a gap so once I get my spacers I will be attacking them again.

Here is a pic. I will do the sound deadening while he door card is off again...if I is not too cold.
