okay, so it's probably dumb, but what is ISO Connection???
thinking of replacing the head unit with a basic cd player - some have ISO connection - some don't - what's the deal, does the philips standard fit have iso connections? - what's easiest thing to do?
oh, and i'm assuming that if the new head unit doesn't fit the connections i can probebly buy a universal connector or something???
HELP - this is bl**dy annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ISO means International Organisation for Standardisation. It is also a "clever" acronym as iso is Greek for "equal" or "constant".
In terms of your real question, it just means an industry standard plug as opposed to one unique to Philips.
Duncan
PS I've got a Philips 6 CD Player I could sell you for £75 that'll plug into your existing Head Unit no problem.

right... as in iso 9000 and all that jazz - thanks!
still a tad confused though, does the philips unit have this? (is that what the two blocks on the left side of the unit are?)

Youn don't mention which model/year you have, but on my MY99 yes both the car and the Philips have ISO connectors.
Best bet is to post your car, so someone can clarify the cars connectors. You can always get convertors if your decide to buy a headunit with or without one.
These plug into an ISO socket

Chiark is correct as usual
The other blue cable running behind the aerial is my Alpine CD-Changer control cable.
So, if you get yourself a new Headunit with ISO connectors, you just plug it in and away you go - yes, it's that simple.
