Both my scoobs have single din motorised TV/DVD units fitted. Just the Ripspeed jobbers from Halfrauds but neither of them has missed a beat and i can't complain at the prices either. Check online they're usually cheaper than in store!
The newest on in the Hawk has ipod connection, USB and SD card slots. Loaded a stack of tuens onto a 2gig card and took most of the CD's out of the car.

I have just replaced the unit on my 2004 blob with a Sony MEX-BT3900U and a Subaru single din pocket. The Sony is a bit below your proposed spend, but is fantastic - really pleased.

Hhhmmm interesting. Just had a look online at them. They do seem cheap enough. But a bit too cheap if you get me. What is the DVD quality like? Is it a touch screen?

You can't fault the Alpine kit Dan, I have an earlier iteration of the one Darm's mentioned and it sounds awesome, never missed a beat and controls the iPod/iPhone

Do you want just high audio quality, or are you after sat nav and video and stuff?
Pioneer have the DEH-P80RS coming out in a month or so which should be an excellent sound quality single din HU with no video screen and no guff, at about £250. FOr audio purists really, but worth a mention.

I got this off ebay for £400:
its a kenwood 8220bt, has garmin satnav built in for most of europe, tv connectivity and HU controlled ipod connection so you can hide away your ipod, and a bluetooth connection with a microphone to pick up your phone as soon as you get in for a hands free connection, was originally around the £1800 mark but second hand come up waaaay cheaper!
The screen is insane, I'll get some photos when I have it fully installed but sure it's going to look immense
I was looking at a few kenwood double din units for around the £300 mark the 7200bt's come up which are pretty much the same spec

Great bit of kit, can't fault it yet, although only put it in Sunday!

Its rubbish as the standard Subaru speakers are pants no matter what headunit your using!
Just change the front door speakers for some 6.5" JBL GTO 6528S speakers with a spacer fitting kit from a Vauxhall Corsa. The speakers are £39.99 and the spacers about £8. These speakers will work fine off just a headunit as they are 2 Ohms and not 4 Ohms are designed to work well without big amp power.

Has anyone had any experience of the new KDC-BT92SD?

Just fitted my jvc double din and it was a dream to fit. I didnt have to do anything to the antenna wire so i dont know what loom you guys had but mine was fine. The hardest part was routing the bluetooth mic from the b pillar. Sound quality is sooo much better with alpine speakers. Happy customer here
