Default Classic - Like for like.

This is the first time I have ventured into the world of ICE, I ain't a "boom boom shake the room" type but I like a good sound, so be gentle.

The car is a V5 STi. It's got the OE tweeters in the front doors as well as the normal door speakers. The rears are still the OE's as well.

I have a very good Sony head unit with USB, iPOD and Aux connections.

Are there straight like for like/size speakers I can fit?

Thanks.

Some decent speakers would be a start, but I`d also recommend a sub of some sort.
And not for boy racer music, but set up for musical sound.

Mine will be going back in when I get the car back, and I have changed the front speakers already for some 2 way Pioneers, and my rear speakers are going to be changed next and I have a set of Infinity 2 way speakers, and some Alpine speakers. And then set up for sound clarity, and breadth of sound.

Not boom boom boom boom.

What Sony headunit do you have and whats the specs??

All I want is to change the speakers for new ones, same shape, size and connections.

Do the speakers you quoted fit the OE holes and brackets?

Short answer is no, not really. The OEMs have a nylon or plastic spacer built into their frame, spacing them off the door. People have used MDF spacers of between 12-15mm or some sort of Corsa spacer modded to fit.

Rear speakers mount on big metal plates on the rear shelf. Getting the shelf out is amusing and usually breaks off the trim clips. Tip: identify them from below (from inside the boot) and pop them before tugging on the rear shelf trim. A better tip is to find a wiki or howto on the internet showing how to remove the rear shelf.

Metalwork doesn't but the board and trimming with the speaker grilles "pops off". It can seem difficult to remove without killing it.
