Question Sound deadening. What have you done...?

Looking to quieten my classic wagon down a little, firstly to reduce road noise and also make the soundz a little better too (innit)

Seen some expensive options like 'noise killer' for £170-200 ish.

Also seen some dynamat type pads on eBay and suchlike.

Bitumen flashing tape from B&Q also looks exactly the same as the stuff on the 'bay, so I'm wondering if that's a quick and easy way of doing what I want to do ?!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RattleMatt...-/300612471794

or..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Self-Adhes...-/400226524029 perhaps ?

Not really worried about adding 20kgs of mass TBH. Lighter the better, but I could just take the spare wheel out instead

Opinions, thoughts, suggestions etc. would be welcome.

Thanks

Rob

Got a load of dynamat xtreme a couple years back and it works really well.

Bought mine from ebay in a bulk pack.

Absolute bitch to remove though!!

Nice one thanks

What did it do, make the music better, kill the road noise, or a bit of both !?

Had the seats out today (real easy!!) so I know it should be pretty easy to strip, deaden and put back together...

Any further contributions welcome still

It made the exhaust noise massively quieter. Music (particularly bass) improved and the vibration reduced.

I did the boot floor, under the seats, the doors and some of the side panels.

I used the Damplifier mats, better than Dynamat IMHO & cheaper.

I've been looking at this stuff, although haven't got around to buying any yet.

Silent Coat

Seems to get some good write-ups and doesn't cost the earth.

ive got a dynamat boot kit i need fit, just need get some for the 4 doors, but need get a rough overall area that i'd need to do the 4 doors 1st before i order it (thinkin no more than 20sq ft?)

would you do the inside of the door cards as well or not bother?

been looking at that silent coat and does seem good

ten years ago when i was really in to my ICE and upsetting the street with banging bass I used stuff called Brown Bread. had to use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm it up and stick it on, it was like a sheet of tar with a foil back, bit messy but did the job, it must have been a cheap option as i was a lot younger with no money lol
