Default Speaker Size Confused?

I have a MY00 Ra version 6 limited, I asked my car audio guy to fit some Infity speakers with an MDF ring and he's fitted 5.25" and advised that 6.5" won't fit.

Can someone please be kind enough to clarify if 6.5" can fit or not with a 12mm or less spacer without fouling the door card.

So, I have done some reading and it appears that 6.5" will fit depending on the depth, would I be right in assuming a 60mm depth speaker with a 18" MDF ring would work?

Question

I assume you mean an 18mm MDF ring as against 18" ?

I have Sony 17/16.5 cm 3-way speakers in the doors of my 98 UK car using the 18mm mdf ring, home made using the Sony template and the old speaker support.

OK - Spoke to said installer and he is 100% sure that with the 18mm spacer which he tried, the speaker fouls the door card and the door card will not fit on the door, so do I need a thiner spacer, is that mine is a MY00 RA and has different door cards? HELP!

I fitted the JBL`s from my Vectra straight in the scoob, I used the spacers on them( dont think there 18mm),
And the Alpines from the rear doors went straight in the rear shelf.
This is on a Classic if it helps.

I have 6.5 Focal Polyflex 165H's fitted in my MY00, made my own 18mm spacer, window only just clears the magnet, and the speaker surround is tight against the door card, but it does all fit, and sound great!

Used 12mm MDF spacers on my 06.

Clears the window and doesn't interfere with the door card
