Default Crossovers Crossovers Crossovers

Unless I am daft are there not 3 crossovers in my system?
One set in the Alpine CDA-9853r HU,
Another set in the Apline MRZ-T320 that powers the components
Another set in the Boston SL60 components

Which do I set? Does the HU setting matter if the amp is set up?

HELP HELP HELP

if the headunit is set to say 1.5khz to 20khz, then thats all your amp will be able to deal with, even if the amp is set to full range (0-22khz ish), the amp can only play what the headunit sends to it, and can adjust it from there also.
The bolston SL60 crossovers will just send different frequencies to the tweeter and main speaker, but this isnt really something you have to consider!

Best thing to do is if you want to control the crossovers from the amps, then set the HU to full range. But I personally like my amp to be on full range, and then be controlled from the output from the HU, much easier to tweat when on the move etc

hope this helps?

Thanks for the advice. My other issues are what settings to put into the HU. The settings for the speakers (from the documentation) seem to relate to the speaker crossovers not the speakers themselves. Am I right thinking this? The Alpine HU asks for several settings including HZ, dB and slope.

The way I have mine set (Alpine 9855) is front speakers to start at 80hz but with the slope quite steep, but enough so that it dips into some low hz's. then it has all above frequencies. The db is at full so 0db,
I have the rear's reduced to -7db however, with 60hz up to 10khz with the slope pretty much verticle at the 60hz side, and the 10khz side a fairly narrow slope, so that there is some good sound there, just to add some rear fill and some sound for passengers.
For a better explanation of the slope, basically you have a cut off point when you have hz, but with the slope it allows the frequency to get some of the lower/higher hz of the slope, but at lower volumes, so that the sound is there, but not to damage the speakers, and/or ruin the sound field.
not sure if that's the best explanation in the world, but it is how i see it!

Sounds very technical, did you set up in ipersonalize? If so would you consider emailing me the download file of the settings so I can do the same.

What speaker set up do you have?

I did all mine via the headunit, its very easy on mine, as you see exactly what you see on the ipersonalise site I think, where as on yours, it's just text is it not on the HU?

Currently running 12" Inphase subwoofer ~600wRMS, some rubbish kenwood speakers up front, and Inphase coaxials in the rear, everything amped. I will be changing the speakers though as soon as possible, as they let the system down

Yep, its just text with settings for slope, HZ and DB. I thought the two HU's were the same for this. Maybe they are not.

Unfortunately not, I get a full graphical representation of the sound set up just tweak with it, until it sounds good to you.

Gone with these settings from I-personalize:

Front
Frequency(Hz) 50.0
Slope(dB/oct) 24
Level(dB) 0

Rear
Frequency(Hz) 63.0
Slope(dB/oct) 24
Level(dB)-7

Front speakers are 50Hz -25kHz freq. response in manual
Rear speakers are 45Hz - 25kHZ (+/- 3dB) in manual

Does the setting above sound okay?

I'd up the frequency from 50hz to 63 on the front, because of the slope it will go below the set frequency, as your front speakers may not handle the settings you have there..
