Question Active subwoofer - Any good

I have changed the OE head unit, front and rear door speakers and what an improvment !!!.

Been looking today at subwoofers to give a fuller sound (not interested in big booming performance). I dont fancy boot mounted boxes for many reasons and was considering a under seat mounted Alpine 150W active sub.

Has anyone got one ? and am i doing the right thing

I was in same position a while back but decided to go with a 10" Vibe amplified sub. The box is very small and easy to remove should you need the space. It sounds awesome with the door speakers replaced and running of the HU.

I have not heard the under seat jobbies but wouldnt expect much from them.

I know you dont want a boot mount but these are surprislingly good
http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...tno=COMPACT220
and pretty small, 8" or 10".

The Alpine is not that great, especially at higher volume, better off putting the money into a v.good set of front comps and an amp.

My trouble is i already have decent front componants and an Amp but while the setup sounds good, it's a little bass light IMO.

I'm used to 6x9's on a shelf, I don't want thumping bass, but some would be nice.

Installed my alpine active sub today, and it sounds fantastic under my seat! I wasn't after a big boom boom sub and just wanted something to compliment my existing setup ( upgrade stereo/speakers) and it does it's job perfectly by adding the low down bass missing from my door speakers.

Yep - pretty impressed with it as well! Shows you don't need a big box all the time

Did that Alpine fit under the seat of a classic?
I ended up going for a pair of 6x9 subs on the rear shelf because there was nothing available at the time that would fit under the seat.

Small boxes are best...........I find with a big box the sound is a bit sloppy!

Yeah I find the sound to be a lot tighter with a small box!
