Cheapest can't equal best, unfortunately. If it did, people would all use the same stuff.

My opinions on this stuff:

Best? Dynamat extreme IMHO.
Lightest? Scosche Accumat
Cheapest? Flashing tape from B&Q

Good compromise? Barrier Mat from Noisekiller.co.uk. I prefer it to standard dynamat, and to brown bread, and use it on my car unless I'm feeling flush and buy extreme

There's two types of sound deadening - adhesive stuff, that sticks to metal to cut down on transmitted noise and also deadens the panel itself to stop any resonances, and non-adhesive, which just cuts down noise by absorbing it.

Marley flashing tape is a tenner for a roll, but is a pain to work with and not IMHO wonderfully effective.

Dynamat Extreme? 25 quid a roll, which is about 4 square feet (!)
Dynamat? 15 quid a roll (4 sq ft)
Noisekiller Barrier mat - 30 quid for half a sheet or 55 for a sheet IIRC. Can't remember area, but it works out cheap.

Alternatively, Dynamat do specific kits or bulk packs too...

Cheers,
Nick.

found some stuff in B&Q today in the insulation section.it was very fluffy stuff with foil on the back of it, costs £40 and would do a whole room.
i havnt bought it yet, but i might use it to line the wheel well and to pack out the empty space of the boot lid etc. the spoiler vibrates like mad, still unsure what to use though, its prolly down to elimination of all the noises at the mo

It's not insulation that you want, it's roof flashing if you're going down that route!

I used the heavy mixed felt carpet underlay under my boot floor to cut down some of the noise from the scoobysport xorst. It worked a tad, but adhesive stuff was much more effective.

wickes do a self adhesive non-sandy(if you know what i mean) roofing felt
really cheap and in double thickness as good as most sound deadeners which are basically similar. just leave it in the sun before woking with it cos itll be a lot more flexible
im pretty sure there was an old post in here which mentioned it

I ordered some noise killer stuff and it really expensive.
Some1 on here ordered the full sound kit for his P1 and told me its not worth the money so I only bought the stuff for the boot.

For expensive, try dynamat extreme at 29.99 for 4 square feet . 2x1 metres of barrier mat is 55 quid IIRC!

I would personally only go for the barrier mat, not the kit though.

If your looking to stop the spoiler from rattling using sound proofing then your pretty much nackered as nothing reliably sticks upside down and looks nice. Best bet would be to refit spioler i guess.

Buy the boot kit from noisekiller Steve is a good bloke he will sort you out, stuff sticks to bodywork behind the boot liner and spare wheel, then a foam type matt under the original one and you will be supprised how much better it sounds.

just my 2p worth.

im using hushmat (dunno how good it is compared to others).. but it def has made the sound much more solid. As for stopping ratttles! HA i wished!

if got false floor, sides and boot lid coverd in the stuff, used mastic to stop the spoiler rattling (not like im gonna change it) but didnt cure the rattle in the brake light. It has improved alot of noise at lower levels, but soon as u crank it up! its JOKE! no amount of squeezing, pressing generaly hugging the car will stop the damn thing sounding like a dustbin lid!

cough suggestions welcomed, but think im fighting a losing battle
