I've been running a Hifonics Son of Boltar amp for about 3 years now and i'm perfectly happy with it (it cost £300 3 years ago and has not gone wrong once).

I was running it in parallel mode with 2xInfinity 12" subs which are 4Ohms each giving me a 2Ohm load which meant the amp power increased quite a bit, anyway, one of the subs is dodgy now and the box is quite frankly too heavy to keep carting around in the car so I want to move to a single sub system so I'm after a recommendation on a good 12" sub to use with this amp, preferably one with a dual voice coil so I can give my amp the 2Ohm load it needs to up the power.

The amp specs are:

RMS Power: 150W x 2 @ 14.4V
Bridged RMS Power: 450W x 1 @ 14.4V

All of this is at 4Ohms and it happily drives 2Ohms so its probably nearer 800W (of course we all know that these figures are always highly inflated and are probably closer to 80w as 800w would be silly)

Anyway, so I'm after a sub and a box combo if a decent match exists off the shelf as a standard unit or a decent sub which I can make a box for myself etc.

Budget for doing this will be £200, maybe £250-£300 if I can sell my old box and one of the subs

thanks, i'll take a look, its going to have to wait a while now, just found out that one of my alloys is buckled, happened a week ago but just slid around a corner and wondered what the hell the car was trying to do, then another driver pointed out that the wheel was wobbling!

In the mean time I've cut my dual box in half and its now a single sub in a single box, rest is going in the bin!

oh well, live to spend money another day

Someone's selling off Diamond Audio M6 12 D2 or D4s cheap. The D4 would give you a 2 ohm load...

Crystal CMP 12 at 200 quid seems an absolute bargain for the performance, too.

I've always been a Rockford Fosgate fan myself. I've had some great sounding stuff from them.
