Help the car is in bits (MY00 old shape)
#1
I have read most the posts, about what speakers to put in the front, and I went for a set of inf 605's (and very nice they look too)
I got these ones as I want them to fit behind the standard door cards.
I have fitted all my sound proofing, run my wires to the amp.
But there is no standard tweeter, so how do I mount the new one?
Do I have to drill the door? and use one of the mounts that come with the speakers?
I also have a problem with the black plastic mount, that holds the orignal speaker in place, the new 605's fit in the mount OK but, the holes do not line up, to screw the speakers on the mount?
How do I get round this?
I recall reading something about getting a diffent mount?
What car?
Ware from?
Please help, my car is in bits and I need it at the weekend.

From memory, you route cable from amp to the 605's distribution block, then to the left of the door opener is a grill, I duct taped my tweater in there and it was fine for well over a year.
I screwed the speakers to a copper coloured metal plate, which then screwed onto the black Subaru surround and it all fitted in fine.

Greg

can't remember if it came with the speakers or was part of the car!!
Sorry! the speakers sat in it and were screwed to it then they fitted fine in the black subaru surround.

You fit the copper-coloured shims to the speakers, then screw them to the std black plastic mount from the OEM speaker.
I fixed the crossover to the far-right of the door (or far left for the passenger door). I ran one length of cable from my amp into the door, then seperate runs (inside the door) for both the woofer and tweeter.
I fixed the tweeter to the plastic trim behind the wing mirror. I did use velcro, but it kept falling off, so I just used one of the supplied screws to fix them in-place.

Right, here are some pics of everything I received with my Infinity 605cs speakers.
There's even a pic of the box in case we're talking about different speakers.

Put the tweeters either behind the tweeter grilles by the doorhandle or mount them on the Plastic Triangles by the mirrors, you can either drill for the latter or use some velcro or something equally as sticky and you shouldnt have a problem.

I just screwed mine to the black plastic triangle. The problem with sticking them is trying to get a decent contact on the plastic. I tried blue tac and velcro, but they kept falling off.
I even shut the door on them, so there's some minor damage to the trim. I wouldn't trust velcro or blue tac as you'll just be constantly worried that they'll fall of and either you or your passenger will shut the door on them.

Well big huge thanks to everyone.
I found the copper bits and the grills hiding under the speakers, still in the box (Ooops)
The I used the plastic mounts, for my tweeters that come with the 605's and but tacked this in place.
And found a handy little hole above my speaker to mount the crossover.
All sounds very good.
However I am elictical shocks of the doors now.
Do you think this may be the tweeter

No, that'll be your nylon underpants rubbing against the crimplene flares...
I always get shocks. When you get out, be touching a piece of metal when you put your foot on the floor. (I grab the roof whilst getting out).

you can use a hot glue gun to put them behind the mount, not superglue this will crack under heat, my JBL's went in to subaru black mount easy, no need for the fittin kit.
