Question forester SG5 JDM replacement speakers?

hi,
they've blown and had it.

Fronts are 6.5" (with tweeters in the door between the window glass/wing mirror areas)
Rears 5.25"

boot sub will not be working as it's an after market head unit.

to improve on standard do i need, 2 way, 3 way, ???
what would go where?

without spending stupid money

head unit is the Pioneer

Whatever you buy you'll probably need to buy or make some of these for the front

Cancel the order. Scrap the rear speakers and put all the money towards just front speakers.

It's not the speakers, it's the position. Having speakers behind ruins the sound stage and just adds volume. You wouldn't have speakers behind you on you home hi-fi unless you had some surround sound set up. Just get the best front speakers you can afford and maybe add a sub at a later date.

There are some nice Alpine / Pioneer speakers on that website for the same price.

They'll be fine for what I need.
Just looking to have working speakers as the ones in there now must be ripped.

I spoke to the guy there on the phone and he'd had them in his Imprza for 8 years before he upgraded and was impressed with how they were. I asked if he'd recommend anything else about the same money but said no, for that money they were more than enough for what I need.

I mentioned about the sub in the boot that's now not working and he said with the size/type of car a underseat sub would be wasted on it.. and I don't want a boot full of subs again.. that was so me 20yrs ago lol

Just need to work out how to do Don's MDF adaptors lol

Thickness determined by how much you want the magnet to miss the window glass

And how much room you have between the door and card....

I'd advise against using MDF in doors. Even if you paint them they still absorb water and deform. Eventually they will fall apart. A plastic composite like HDPE or acrylic is best. If you want to be really cheap, buy a couple of plastic kitchen chopping boards and make them from those.

Depends on the speakers. You'll almost certainly need to make your own adaptors though.

You could fit an 8" sub in std. Location possibly a 10" with a bit of work.

The stock one is a 6x9 and not very good anyway
