Show me your in-car computer install
Hi
Some years ago I had a PC setup in my GTO and I still have all the components stored in the loft, 7" touch screen, amp, GPS receiver and an old Dell PC to run it all. I'm not happy with the JVC unit that's in the car I just bought so I'm thinking of going the in-car PC route again. I was wondering what are people using these days?

In short, Nexus tablets. The in car pc really has died a bit of a death with the resurgence of the tablet. Something like the Nexus 7 is near as dammit a double din screen and has all the functionality of an in car pc.

So it seems the Nexus is the way to go.
But
It only has 32gb of space, what about extra storage for music files?
Can I install the Tomtom app on it like my Galaxy S4? (guess so)
Is there a car friendly front end like Centrfuse available?
And is it possible to listen to the radio?

look at the thread i sent a link too
get a nexus 7 (original version used off ebay, 32gb 1gb ram) and you can then use Timurs USBROM, which allows all sorts of usb goodness, i.e. plug in a usb hub, then have a usb socket for a usb flash drive, whilst charging, and other usb sockets for radio accessories etc. AS WELL AS, custom nav bar with vol controls on it.
Sat-nav on Android, yes you can buy Tomtom, or get Nav-free

I love my nexus 7 install... had a few issues to start, well just the one with my old battery, but was simply fixed for £22 with a new one .
as mentioned above you can have everything pretty much, i have dab/fm/mw radio antena, fast charge, OBD2 display etc. i love it.
fits very well in the standard double din slot with very little messing about.
