Default Tips Before Re-map session

Hi Guys,

I'm going to remap my 1994 WRX next month.

I've got basic mods, i.e. New filter, sports manifold, up-pipe, down pipe and decat exhaust, with iridium spark plugs.

I'm currently running at 260bhp so hoping for more from the remap.

What sort of power gains are likely from the mods I have and is it worth doing anything else before I remap?

Thanks

If you are going fuel pump you are going to want an FPR too.

And if you are like me be prepared for a very nervous ten minutes or so as somebody revs the **** off of your car....

You won't need to change the standard fuel pressure regulator if you're upgrading the pump for a Walbro or similar.

Anybody who can 'remap' a car in just ten minutes isn't doing it right....

It was probably a bit longer then that tbh (back in 2007 now) but it was on a rolling road for not all that much time and then taken out on the road to perfect. And taking a UK turbo from 220-270bhp and 283ftlb with minimal mods and making it reliable for 6 years and still going strong they obviously did ok.

with an early phase 1 i,d be checking and double checking your ignition coils, these often run fine at standard boost pressure but quickly fold at higher pressures.
gets expensive rebooking mapper again often days or weeks later for second date

as said check your coil packs are good and fit a walbro pump as any weakness in these parts will be highlighted by the mapping, there is no need to change to a 3port boost solenoid as there is already one fitted

Upgrade to newage coilpacks
upgrade fuel pump
upgrade to later spec map sensor
upgrade intercooler
fit some br7 plugs
Make sure you have enough preload on actuator

If i had my time over again thats all the bits i would do prior to remap and if i really had my time again, id chose a different mapper to the one i did, but thats another story LOL

good luck and enjoy
