Difficult 2nd to 1st gear change
Hi Guys,
I am a new owner of an 04 WRX. The car has recently had a new clutch fitted, but I wanted to know if it is normal to find that 1st gear cannot be selected when moving (very slowly from 2nd), ie rolling up to a junction? Is this a characteristic of the gearbox or has my synchromesh been mashed by the previous owner? All other gears shifts are smooth and glitch free!
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Jonny

Not going to lie, I'm not sure. I didn't get many receipts with it. Is it easy to check? I was kind of hoping it was a normal thing with WRX gearboxes.

Easy to check pull dip stick have a look ( the one near the IC) think it should be checked when cold, changing the gear oil may help

I would probably go for the Motul Gear 300 as it's thin when cold for a 75w-90 as well as being top quality stuff. The other oils mentioned are good oils, but a few people have mentioned cold shift issues at the moment with the Millers CRX 75w-90. As Dazsti72 said, Lightweight Shockproof isn't ideal when cold. The Castrol Universal 75w-90 is a decent semi-synthetic, but it is only a semi rather than full synthetic.

Thanks oilman, I will give it a go and hopefully see some improvements.
Thanks for all your input guys. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't a problem with my gearbox/synchro.
