Default replacing power steering lines for braided hose

am going rotated gt30 on my hawk sti and want to tidy up the engine bay a bit
has anyone replaced the steel pipes with braided hose and if so what fitting and where from tks

Been looking into this recently and its not easy.

There are a few issues:

1. The hose needs to be rated to 2000psi which means normal braided hose is no good. You need specific hose rated for that pressure. Earls do it but it is dear!

2. The fittings also need to be rated for that. You can get adaptors that fit the threads but all the ones I found are ali and not steel. I am not sure I trust ali fittings at this pressure.

3. The special steel fittings that earls state are the only ones that should be used with the hose are about £15 each and need adaptors to fit. See above.

4. Power steering fluid is very flammable and if you get a leak you may well set fire to the car.

The easiest option would be to take the factory lines to a proper hydrolic hose maker and get them to copy them.

there a re suppliers in the states doing a kit incl tank for 300.00usd just want somewhere over here

That's what I was thinking , wanted to look at the kit on the USA site , then make a few calls , emails etc etc ...get some quotes at least

teflon hose is working 5000psi / burst 10000psi

Yep , nice piece of kit thr P1
States on bottom of page that you can purchase items individually .
I would imagine the ally res is 50% or more of the outlay

It looks ok, but quite pricey. But there are not many options out there. I would still get my own made up.
