Default Excessive oil consumption

Absolutely dreading asking this question after I have done a search on the forum, BUT....

my car (330s) is drinking oil like nobody's business, 3 litres in less than 1000 miles, it was serviced at the end of December there is no smell of burning oil, no blue smoke, and has been fine, up until Friday when it felt like it was "bogging down" at times, which is when I checked the oil and topped up again

Car seems to be driving fine now, but what would be the first things to check before jumping to the worst conclusion?

Check for leaks first...
If possible, check that the dipstick is properly seated to the sump (nt sure if this applies to a 330, but worth a check if you have ramps). Is there a puddle under the car when you park it?

Wouldn't be so surprised mate, my hatch drinks it to. Not ruling out a problem but it could just be a heavy drinker like mine. Have taken it to the garage a few times for general work and have always been told just to keep an eye on it week by week.

My blob likes it's oil aswell, had a leak on the oil turbo return pipe fixed it and it's still the same, just check regularly and car will be down

Check your inlet incase turbo pulling oil, but more than likely ringlands

3l in 1000 miles is way too much, get it to a specialist to look at, check everything over.

Would like to think it's just a heavy drinker, will do some more checking around tomorrow and see if I can find anything.

Out of interest what would the drop in fuel consumption indicate? If anything I think it's gone up...driving it too sensibly lol

3ltrs in 1000 miles, you've got serious pending issues. my money is on a fractured ringland which has lead to bore damage. get it checked out asap

Just to put your oil consumption into context, if it was drinking 1 litre per thousand miles it would be considered a heavy drinker, at 3 litres per thousand miles it makes Gazza look positively tea total.

+3/4 for David at API he's on your doorstep and can solve any issues, but best to get it over to him sooner rather than later, because if you leave it, it's going to cost circa £4k if you go NOW it can be done for £2600 inc vat, or possibly less.
