would NOT use a 5w oil in a classic IMO...............
if its a std car and std type use then 10w40 is what your after, if its more aggressive/track use or modified then the 10w50 would be better
the std competition fully ester based synthetic CFS is very good if you want the ultimate then the newer CFS NT range is the dogs..........

Hi
I tend to agree with Alyn on this, a 10w-40 is often the safe option for a classic as it helps it to keep quiet on cold starts. If it's heavily modified or used on track a lot, a 10w-50 is a better option. Millers CFS and CFS Nanodrive are some of the best oils on the market, but Gulf Competition, Fuchs Pro S, Red Line and Motul 300V are in the same league.

There are quite a few classics that use a 5w-40 when cold and if they are fine with it, then there is no point in changing to a 10w-40.
Cheers
Tim

Well just done a rebuild
been told to use running in oil for 1st 500
then 10w40 for second 500
then put 10w50 in
thats by scooby clinic
car has some mods
some uprated parts internal but pretty much standard
and having mapped and I will be happy
so you all recommend a good 10w40
