Have you released the clutch actuation lever by removing the access hole on the side of the gearbox and removing the pin with a 6mm bolt?

Just being devil's advocate, but you have undone the engine mounts? Sometimes when in a rush you can miss silly things...

Is it separating at all? If not, it may be hung up on one of the steel dowels that locate the engine to the box. I take it that the starter motor has been removed?

Had the same problem, soaked it in penetrating oil then used a wide wood chisel/filling knife to free it. The aluminium seems to corrode together.

I've left it to soak over night and if there's still no movement tomorrow the engine and box is coming out

Refit the starter and turning it over briefly. The shock may seperate it.

Failing that, a ****ing great mallet...

Imo i i ever need to remove engine or box, id just remove block to bell housing bolts and if it wont move then starting and engage first nd reverse a few times lifting the clutch lightly.

From what i have read they can be a pain in the **** to seperate!

No even with the engine and box out it still wouldn't come apart , so I had to drill the dowels out and replace them
