RB5 intermittent starting fault
Hi folks,
For some months now there has been this intermittent problem where I turn the ignition key fully to start the car, but the engine fails to turn over. I can sometimes turn the key to start the engine a number of times and the engine eventually turns over and fires up. The majorityu of the time the car starts normally.
I've also noticed that there are occasions where the indicators flash more than the normal four times when arming the Sigma M30 alarm.
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA, Martin

Would sound like your alarm may be playing up,
When it doesnt start are you dis arming the and getting straight in ?
When you turn the key can you hear the fuel pump prime ? if so listen out for it each time you start the car,
Then see if it`s priming when it wont turn over, the immobiliser normally does 2 circuits pump and starter, so if your not getting the pump prime and it doesnt turn over id get the alarm changed,
If the fob hadnt got you in the car and it wouldnt start it could have been lock out from a local source, which could explain why it is random.

Thanks for the info.
I'll keep an ear open for the fuel pump priming.
The problem seems to occur whether the alarm is armed or not. And, it's not restricted to one place, so, as you say, I don't think it's to do with a local source
