Default Water swooshing noise on idle when revving

Hi Guys.

Got a strange problem with my MY05 Blob STi.

When I start the car from cold or warm I can hear a water type sound coming from behind the dash.

More prominent when revving on idle and when accelerating in first gear.

Searched about with regards air locks in the heating system etc and done some checks on the car.

Both rad hoses top and bottom get hot. Heater blows hot air.

Only thing I noticed was the overflow bottle with the yellow cap is almost empty. It's below the minimum. There is some in there but not a lot.

Coolant tank is always at correct level.

Can anyone make any suggestions before I take it into a garage?

Thanks guys.

Airlock in the heater matrix would be my guess if you can hear rushing water behind the dash- it can be early signs of head gasket issues.

You can chase this forever with failed attempts to "burp" the system etc. Flush the coolant and refill properly, if you still get it, it MAY be head gasket but rule out the easy stuff first

as above....
drain it and refill via the turbo ,
ie remove pipe from header tank that goes to the turbo and refill this way so backward fills the system

Hopefully it is.

I would be gutted if it was head gasket.

Temp gauge sits in the middle when warmed up and stays there.

Over flow bottle is low though.

It's booked in this week to the Subaru specialist I use.
