Default Smell of constant petrol? Any ideas?

Hi all, iv just purchased my other rare jewel v6 sti type ra wrc and I'm constantly smelling fuel coming from somewhere? I can't put my finger to where it's coming from, any ideas?

Yep I can imagine it being tricky to put your finger on the leak from the drivers seat.


Passenger side suspension turret at the bulkhead is where the 2 lines come to the fuel filter which is the black metal cylinder that is there, I'd start looking there if it were you, don't use a lighter/matches or candle to see it in the dark.

Told you to get the other one.

The other 1 had 9 owners, barely any service history and with the mods it's hard to believe anyone doesn't give the car a beating lol. The body on type ra has no dents or rusts, drove mint on the drive back from Rochdale to leicester, full service, bundles of reciepts and 2 mature owners at 78k kilometers on the clock. I won't feel bad about the minor or issues knowing it's probably age related, but the car is an absolute beut

Any leaks I've had were due to the hoses becoming really hard over time and causing gaps at the fitments. If yours are like this, it would be worth changing them anyway to future proof it.

My version 6 type r is like this, All can smell at lights or when left on idle is petrol lol ... Think its where it hasn't got a cat and just runs really rich

Coolant temp sensor playing up? They have a habit of not throwing eml up when faulty.
