Default Boost Qs

Hi all just want to check, I want to run around a 1 bar of boost on my Subaru 2000. Will it be ok to run a manual boost control, and turn the boost up to a bar don't want to run any more

Cheers

I found a number on a recite was last owners who had most of the work done, so I called him he said Area 52 did a rolling road day. so He put it on! It ran 250Hp, he was told by them although the Ecu hasn't been mapped, the AFR is leaner then standard, its about the reading they would set a mapped car to, plus the center De catted hence why it made good power.

I was going to turn the boost up a little to around a 1 bar but as its running leaner then standard for peace of mind going to get it dyno run

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you run more boost it will run even leaner (which could be too lean and lead to detonation) ?

Firstly check what ecu is in it. If its a Y7 code on the cover try to find an 99 uk ecu its code is E3. Its a more agressive ecu as 2000 cars got alot of emission guff added. Its a straight swap plug n play

on the e3 ecu you can run increased boost as it runs very rich in std trim. There is a thread just recently in ecu section about this.

Looking at the graph it looks like your car spiked between 3000 and 3250.

Ya just checked its a Y7 code, so all I need to do is swap the ECU with a E3 ecu, and job done right? could you expline to me tho why some came with y7 ecu and others E3, and where the E3 from which model????? I have put the MBC on and only running standard boost at the mow as I feel the came comes in harder and feels much better then before. Was going to turn the boost up to a bar!!! but after finding out the cars set up top run a little lean from factory so don't want to turn it up with out a map

So the E3 Ecu is better then Y7??

As said my00 uk turbo got an updated ecu that was based on stricter emissions than the my99 uk turbo ecu

straight swap - nothing else needs done, immobiliser and key codes are seperate to ecu hence straight swap

All info here

Get rid of the boost controller and get it remapped. Its the cheap quick mods that **** up your car.

Should see some good power with a remap

A mate of mine ran these mods with RCM headers and got 320/340

Ya I do have some plan's lol, not running more the a bar tho,

I did remove the MBC this morning but then it would only run 0.5 bar as I removed the vac pipes that run to the boost solenoid to turbo and replace them with new one's might have removed something I shouldn't have so put it back on and set it to standard boost
feels loads better tho now.

So I wont have to do any thing else just plug and play? been trying to understand all this about the difference in ecu from the e3 to y7.

Am I right in thinking the e3 is better because it runs less fuel? don't laf lol,
