Default Intermittent Misfire on Cylinder 1

For a few months now my friends car has had a misfire on one cylinder (Diagnostics is always number 1 cylinder) , Its not there all the time it only pops up now and again. We have tried changing coil packs, And obviously plugs and its still there.Plugs arent brand new but havent done many miles and are fine in any other engine/cylinder. same again with the coil
Its most obvious of boost, and is really fluffy and pops and farts like mad. We swapped a second hand coil on to it yesterday and it was mint, extremely smooth etc. Tried it again this morning and same problem!
Tried giving them a clean up etc and there doesnt seem to be any moisture or loose connections.
Car is an 03 WRX With STi Pinks, VF35 And all other supporting mods mapped by Eclipse.

Anybody have any ideas with what it could be?

Thanks alot!

If the car is running OK then may be the NPS............have a search on here for misfire CELS witha faulty one.

Hopefully it won't return but if it does do a compression test & cylinder leakage test. Sticking valves are often intermittent & easy to diagnose by these simple tests.
Good luck, Richard.

I get this as well, I was told when I got it mapped that it was usual for the neutral position switch (NPS) to cause this, but I am changing plugs soon and having the injectors checked even though
