Default What is this noise? vid inc.

Got home from a good run yesterday and noticed this whining noise when getting out the car. If it's the fuel pump should it ever sound like this?
It wasn't making this noise today after driving.

Thanks

Got another one for you and its another whining noise, this time engine bay.
It's been getting worse slowly for a couple of years and today it sounded worse than ever so pulled over and took a quick vid.
It only used to do it sometimes after a hard drive but how it's starting to do it just driving a short distance home from work.
When the noise normally starts during a drive is going round a tight'ish right bend or roundabout doesn't matter what speed i'm traveling, it does do it turning left but mostly right. When it starts it sounds like a hand grinder being very lightly pressed on metal and then after the bend/roundabout straightens there is this nasty whining noise and a sort of light rattle that goes up and down with the engine revs also in neutral.
After driving slow and straight for a few minutes the noise will go but soon comes back when revs pick up or cornering.

Is there enough oil in your PS reservoir? It's down by the left hand side (by the head light) as you face the engine bay.

I checked the PS cap dipstick level and it was fine hot and cold and no signs of leaks, is that what you meant by 'reservoir' cos only thing down by the left head light is a weird black plastic cylinder thing that I'v never worked out what it is.
It sounds to me like the noise is coming from down behind the engine. Could it be the diff or does the fact it does it in neutral standing still rule this out?

yes, that's what I meant, but if it's from the back of the engine area then it's not the PS system at least
