Default Outrigger bushes-anyone changed them?

Morning all!

I'm currently in the middle of poly bushing the whole car.

I have got the outriggers out and ready to install the new ones (what a sh*t job!!!) but the outrigger on the near side is not only thicker than the right but the bush itself isn't symmetrical .....anyone know which side of the bush should be thicker? Car side or road side?

Thanks!!

Anyone? I can't see it matters but I'm guessing it was done for a reason?

Thanks mate. I'm poly bushing the whole car, over half way through and off axle stands and jacks...... Just be ready to cut most bolts off on the suspension, a lot of swearing and time..... Takes a lot longer than I first thought

Hmmm sounds like a pain, do you need to drop the whole sub-frame?

You have to drop the rear diff support to do the outriggers which is exhaust off, diff lowered, suspension links undone at the hub to remove driveshafts, heat shield off, prop support off, then you can slide the rear diff support out.

I did the radiator on my classic, funnily enough it was about the same mileage, and it was a quick job, ah well I'll need to get under the car and have a proper look at these bushes then

No need to drop T frame, a nice size hole saw and a hacksaw with a hammer and screwdriver/small chisel, takes about 25 mins a side.

I dropped the whole lot out, no way your poly bushing that without a hydraulic press.....even then a pain in the ****. Plus you've got to remove all the old rubber that's inevitably bonded to the metal (had on my 05 blob with 50k on it) and in the end I had to burn mine out.

the hole saw takes the rubber out, the hacksaw is for the shell, the hammer removes it,
done @ least 5 from memory still on the car.

51 mm is the hole saw size (I think) I have 2 covered in black rubber marks and 73mm seems too big.

No had to take the bar off, whiteline bushes need pressed in, make sure you put plenty grease in with them or they'll squeak, can't honestly say I noticed much difference, I think you would if you were doing other bushes though
