My car was a little tappy, no knock at all until one evening and then it just sounded like goofballs rattling around under the bonnet. Bottom end well an truly gone, replacement engine going in this week. Gutted but I love the impreza
Check oil, level good so dropped it to check mag sump plug and that was clean not metal on it at all, seemed a lot quieter this morning after the oil change will see how it goes for now but think I will keep an eye out for forged engine or sti8 bottom end
lol tubbytomy - dont panic wiggy - tubbytomys answer is ALWAYS bottom end gone
also check your oil - low oil causes tapping
the reason i do is because there is NO way of guessing whats wrong without seeing/hearing the engine, it could be anything from the bottom end to a screwdriver in the glovebox.
its pointless starting a "has my bottom end gone " thread without more detail and possible video.
That's fair enough, seems to be ok after oil change so will see what happens
