Default HELP Abit worried!

Got a tapping/ knocking, I don't think it's the bottom end but Abit paranoid after my last one left go suddenly. Oh yeah it a 03 bug wrx running 336/330

Cheers for the vote of confidence TT, I don't think it's bottom end just been Abit paranoid I think,

No it deff is.
Its fooked needs a rebuild 100%.
Any slight knock is bottomend bearing

lol tubbytomy - dont panic wiggy - tubbytomys answer is ALWAYS bottom end gone

also check your oil - low oil causes tapping

I was always told that the flat 4 engine resonates at 3 K RPM, so take it to that RPM under no load and see if it get worse there.

My car was a little tappy, no knock at all until one evening and then it just sounded like goofballs rattling around under the bonnet. Bottom end well an truly gone, replacement engine going in this week. Gutted but I love the impreza

Check oil, level good so dropped it to check mag sump plug and that was clean not metal on it at all, seemed a lot quieter this morning after the oil change will see how it goes for now but think I will keep an eye out for forged engine or sti8 bottom end

the reason i do is because there is NO way of guessing whats wrong without seeing/hearing the engine, it could be anything from the bottom end to a screwdriver in the glovebox.

its pointless starting a "has my bottom end gone " thread without more detail and possible video.

That's fair enough, seems to be ok after oil change so will see what happens
