Default Petrol smell

Alright chaps now the cold weather is here I'm gettin the dreaded smell of fuel when I have the heaters on until its warmed up I'm led to believe its summot to do with the rubber hoses where they go onto metal connectors what the best fix for this as I don't think I can put up with it all winter lol my car is a bugeye btw

Speak to your closest subaru main dealer as this was part of a recall a few years back and you may possibly still get it done for nowt, Its the small rubber hose/joiners on the metal fuel pipes underneath the inlet manifold

I read about this on another thread on here,I have a 51 plate bugeye WRX, its a UK spec but was a parallel import supplied by a dealer in Belguim & although I haven't had any signs of the problem I gave Phil Camwell a call last week to see if my car would be covered.

I had to send him a scan of the first page of my service booklet (the page with the suppling dealer's details etc) & on Monday I got an email back from him saying my car was covered & to get it booked in at my local Subaru dealer.

I've got them coming to collect the car on Thursday morning & they are going to deliver it back to me when the work has been done.

Result!

Subaru UK are on 01217474000

Just ask to speak to Phil & explain the problem to him.

Also got back today with the same news, amazing really on a 10 year old car, was a 90 mile round trip but worth it in the end I suppose, taking it back in next Friday for them to do the job.

Thanks to sy5 for info

I had a petrol smell the other day , had it on and off for a week or so , turned out to be a leaking fuel gauge that was fitted along with the sytec FPR , apparently these are prone to leaking and its very common .....only smelt it when ticking over with the heating on , so took off and will use gauge for future set up of fuel pressure...

I have just started to notice this on my blob wagon. I have checked the rubber hoses for any signs of cracking, etc but can't see anything obvious? Have also checked injectors, fuel rails, fuel pipes etc. I'm at a bit of a loss with it. Will i see a fuel leak or is it just fumes?

It's just fuel vapour so I doubt u would see it as far as I know it was only a problem on the bugs as they rectified it on the blobs so chances are it could be something else any signs of leaks on your injectors ???

I see, no signs of leaks anywhere. Just the smell when cold through the heater fan. Very strange.
