Default P0340 camshaft postion sensor

I keep getting this popping up after a hard boot!
Clear the code and it goes away!
The only time it pops back up again is when it gets given a quick blast
Any ideas why???

Cheers Ben

Hi Ben

Is very common on the WRX like bugeye or blobeye, this will go off after few start ups and this only happens when you are hitting the rev limiter

Camshaft sensor I believe.Same on my bugeye when it redlines.ECL clears after 4 starts.I've read that some times it just needs a clean up,but I don't think they're very expensive, about 30 quid. On mine it said its position A Bank 1 which is passenger side.Hope this helps, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I planned to take it out and give it a clean tomorrow

Had a look today, its underneath engine oil filler pipe. One 10mm bolt holding it in.managed to get it out without removing anything else although if you want to make it a bit easier you could whip out the battery.I've given it a clean up and ill see what happens. I said it was about 30 quid ealier,my bad, they're actually around 80. Good luck, hope this sorts it
