On the rear of the coolant crossover pipe, over the top of the block. Near to the turbo/TMIC area.
Its plastic connector is terracotta coloured. There are 2 sensors side by side - it's the larger of the 2 sensors (the smaller one is the for the temp gauge).

Usually, you just press one side of the connector, so that its locking tab springs out, then whilst still maintaining pressure, you can draw the connector away from the sensor body.
Then you'll need a suitable sized hex socket to unscrew the sensor...
I've never disconnected the electrical union on a CTS, so don't quote me on that.

thanks for your help, i managed to get the job done.
the clip turns out needed pressing down then removing, i have broken the clip now lol. it slides on correct just dosent 'lock' onto place, is this a mega problem?? afaik it seems connected ok.
reason i ask is that the fans on constant problem is still there.
cheers.

I'd wind some electrical tape around the union to make sure the connector doesn't 'slip' off.
As re. the fan issue, 2 things spring to mind:-
1) Perhaps the fan's thermosatic switch has failed in the closed circuit position?
2) Have you recently done a diagnostic check using the two pairs of connectors under the steering column? If so, afterwards, did you put the connectors back to non-diagnosis mode...?
